Paint Free Dent Removal (PDR)
The Fastest Growing Service in the Automotive Industry

Q: What is Paint Free Dent Removal (PDR)?
A: A process whereby a Skilled Craftsman utilizes Special Hand Tools and Graphic Lighting to gently massage each individual dent out from the back side of metal panels. The technician returns the metal to its pre-accident condition and strength, all without damaging the paint finish. PDR does utilize heat, dry ice, or body fillers during the process.

Q: Is this a New Repair Procedure?
A: Absolutely Not. This repair process was first developed and utilized in Mercedes-Benz automotive manufacturing plants. This repair procedure has been used with overwhelming success for many years throughout the country; especially here in the Mid-West where hail is very common. This procedure has been utilized for many years on manufacturer assembly lines and at your local car dealership to remove unsightly dents and door dings.Back to the Top

Q: Will your tools scratch the paint off the inside or underneath of the panel and cause rust in the future?
A: No. We utilize specially designed tools that can have rounded edges and/or plastic tips so the integrity of the paint is not diminished.

Q: Will the dent "reappear" at a later time with hot or cold weather?
A: No. This repair process is permanent! Because of the development of lighter, more flexible metals in the 80's, PDR can be utilized to restore the metal to it's original memory, never to reappear again.

Q: Will the paint crack at a later time?
A: No! With the development of lighter, more flexible metals in the 80's, upgrades in the painting process made paints much more flexible; therefore, the integrity of the paint is not diminished when the dent is repaired with PDR.

Q: Do you have to drill holes all over the vehicle to make repairs?
A: We utilize specially designed tools that allow us to access dents all over the vehicle through existing access areas such as taillights, headlights, wiring holes, etc.Back to the Top

Q: How long will I be without my car?
A: We can remove minor dents, door dings, and hail damage in as little as 30 minutes. We can generally repair a hail damaged vehicle within 1 day.

Q: Will I be able to see the repair?
A: No! All dents will be removed to your satisfaction with no harm to your car's factory finish.

Q: Why is Paint Free Dent Removal much less expensive than conventional body shop repairs?
A: PDR is less expensive because there is much less labor and materials needed to make the repair. No painting, no body fillers, no removal of panels and glass, and less labor time all add up to significant savings for you, yet the vehicle is completely and permanently repaired. Insurance companies have monitored the results from these repairs and have deemed Paint Free Dent Removal as a solid repair procedure equal in quality to conventional body shop methods.

Q: Are there benefits to the PDR Removal Process?
A: Yes! Here are a few:

1. Maintain original factory finish that will not void factory warranties.
2. Eliminates concerns about paint matching.
3. Removal of glass and cutting of factory seals is not needed.
4. Much faster repair process - most repairs are done in one day.
5. No plastic fillers.
6. More environmentally friendly because no metals or panels are thrown away, no paint fumes emitted into the atmosphere, and no harmful paint waste to discard.Back to the Top

Q: What are some types of damage that inhibit this process?
A: Generally there are only 2 issues that interfere with PDR:

1. The paint is already chipped or broken. If this is the case, we can repair the dent, but the paint will still be missing.

2. The dent is more than 3" in diameter. In most cases a dent more than 3" in diameter will "stretch the metal" too much to be completely repaired.

Q: Can I get a combination of PDR and conventional repair due to damage incurred?
A: Yes! This is why in most instances, our body shop can offer you the best and most convenient options for your repair.

Q: Now that I have decided PDR is my preferred method of repair, does it make a difference who does the repair?
A: Absolutely! This is a craft oriented business! Because this process utilizes skilled craftsmen using hand tools, the technician makes all the difference in the world. This process is not simplified with the use of machines therefore you need highly trained, caring technicians to ensure your complete satisfaction. King of Dings has this available for you!
